Malanda Youth Theatre

Malanda Youth Theatre is preparing for their 2019 production – an extravaganza of One Act Plays and music.  With a cast of 50 young people between the ages of 8 and 16 this promises to be a lively performance.

Seven plays have been selected.  There is a blend of humour, fantasy and drama and the program features issues that are important to primary and high school age students.

Some of the older students have been with the MYT for several years and have developed some excellent  drama skills.  So this year they have been given the chance to help with the direction.  Each of the plays has an adult and student director.  Both the casts and the teenage directors are enjoying this experience.

The plays are:

  • Monster Faces
  • Bus Stop
  • A Bunch of Clowns
  • If Sherlock Holmes were a woman
  • We’re your friends
  • The Bully Pulpit
  • The Body.

The final play ‘the Body’ is an original work, written by one of the Youth Theatre members, Rosa Askey-Doran.

A public performance will be held on Sunday June 16 at 3pm with performances for the local schools on Wednesday 19 June.  All performances will be at the Majestic Theatre.

The young casts have had lots of fun putting this program together and are looking forward to showcasing the finished product to family, friends and the Tablelands community.Tickets for the public performance are available at the door for $10 adults and $5 for students.
