The involvement of my children and my
friends is how I joined MTC.  I enjoy
behind-the-scenes roles with the
Youth Theatre juniors, helping with
Front of House, as a Producer, and
now as Publicity Officer.

How did I get into MTC?  Well, in high school on the Gold Coast I worked backstage for two musicals (Grease in 2009 and Anything
Goes in 2011). When I moved up to Atherton I got a job at the bakery
where Grace came in wearing her Chicago T shirt and as I sold her a Curry Pie I commented on her top.  Striking up a quick chat about
theatre and I recalled my love of being backstage for theatre. Two
months later I got a call asking if I’d be Stage Manager for Chalk Circle (2012). I agreed, had a blast and haven’t looked back since becoming
heavily involved and loving every part of it.

Judy first became involved in Malanda Theatre Company in 1997, aged 51. She’d been sitting in her “empty nest”, feeling sorry for herself when someone invited her to a Malanda Theatre Company get-together. Continue reading

Mervena Watson

MervenaWatson_While you’re waiting for the show to start, turn your attention to the curtains surrounding you. That’s a lot of black cloth! It shapes the theatre and the stage. They’ve been stitched together by longstanding MTC member, Mervena Watson. Continue reading
