Rehearsals are nearly over so it’s almost time to pull
up the gang plank and cast off to enjoy MTC’s production
Rehearsals for our musical production “Anything Goes” are now in full swing. The cast includes many of the company’s strongest musical and comedy performers, including Felicity Stoetzel, Howard Smith, Seth Hartley, Kirsten Adams, Marg Procter, Graham Harrington, Chris Hoare, Jake Skukan and Jo-Anne Dittman as well as several newcomers with Jacquie Morrison playing the romantic lead role.
Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S.S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney (with her four angels) is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy aristocrat Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, a match encouraged by Hope’s social climbing mother Mrs Harcourt who is travelling with her. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Billy’s boss Whitney, Public Enemy#13, Moonface Martin and his sidekick-in-crime Erma. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap dancing sailors and good old fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.
