The legendary tale, written in 1843, takes you on a journey though London as it awaits the joyful arrival of Christmas. Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge thinks it’s all humbug, berating his faithful clerk and cheerful nephew for their view on the special time of year. Later, Scrooge encounters the ghost of his late business partner, who warns that three spirits will visit him this night. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey through his past, present and future in the hope of transforming his bitterness,  Will they succeed?

Gallipoli – The Musical 2015

Lest We Forget

presented by Malanda Theatre Company

Written by Graham Harrington

Directed by Graham & Gill Harrington

Graham Harrington has written this musical to commemorate the Gallipoli campaign in 1915.
The theme of the show is taken from a song written by Ted Egan about his mother who watched her three brothers go off to the war together. Ted did a show and produced a DVD called THE ANZACS and has generously given us permission to use any of his songs free of royalties.  The audience get their chance to join in some of the more familiar songs. The words will be projected onto the cinema screen. Extensive use of the cinema screen is planned for this “SHOW WITH A DIFFERENCE”.

Malanda Youth Theatre

MALANDA YOUTH THEATRE – 2016

Malanda Youth Theatre will meet for the first time this year on Wednesday February 3 at the Majestic Theatre, Malanda from 3-30 to 5-30pm. Young people between the ages of 9 and 18 years are invited to join the group.

A team of enthusiastic adult leaders are looking forward to helping the Malanda Youth Theatre develop stage craft, creativity and performance skills whilst having fun.

This year will be a big year for the MYT members with plans to stage a production of ‘THE WIZARD OF OZ’.  This is a musical production based on the movie starring Judy Garland.  It will be both a challenging and rewarding experience for MYT members.  It contains many well known songs including ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ and ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’.  It has a large cast and chorus and lots of opportunity for acting and movement.

MYT will run for one semester only and enrolments will be capped at 40.

Membership of the MYT (incorporating membership of the Malanda Theatre Company) is $10 per year. Membership forms are available on the Malanda Theatre website or from one of the leaders at the first session on the 3rd February.

If you have any queries about the group or simple wish to register your interest please contact Gill Harrington by phone on 40965051 or email     gillianh59@gmail.com

War Games is a comedy/drama about an 18 year old schoolboy, Josh Walker, his relationship with his mates and the fascination his female history teacher has for him. Josh comes from a broken home, however he is a bright student and obsessed with playing laser tag, a war game that he plays every weekend with his best mate Todd.
Josh also has a girlfriend in Jena who is addicted to her mobile phone and pop music. Jena is also paranoid that fellow schoolgirl Amy Morgan is trying to steal Josh from her. However, it is Josh’s history teacher, the vivacious 23 year old Helen Russell, who has a more than a keen interest in Josh.
The play War Games unfolds rapidly as we follow Josh’s story in fast moving scenes that take the audience from battlefield to bedroom, from schoolyard to street in a madcap snap shot of a life at the end of schooldays and at the cusp of adulthood. Please note:

The play contains low-level course language.

Cast:
Jacqui Morrison, Zena Nicholson, Jake Skukan, Tom O’Connor and Damien Cavanagh.
